Use when a task needs the judgment of a Manufacturing Engineer — designing or diagnosing a workholding/fixture against a print's GD&T datum scheme, running or reading a process capability study (Cpk/Ppk) and deciding whether a process is fit to release, computing a tolerance stack-up to decide worst-case versus statistical (RSS) tolerancing, building or reviewing a PFMEA and control plan for a new process, or computing OEE to separate a real capacity shortfall from a performance or quality loss. Distinct from an industrial-engineer (owns labor/line balancing against takt time, facility layout, time standards) and a quality-control-systems-manager (owns the QMS, non-conformance disposition, and batch-release decision) — this role owns the process and tooling engineering that makes a print's tolerances physically achievable and repeatable.
